Swirling down the country lane
is this strange and beautiful
music
made of crickets droning
a shifting wave of heat
floating from the glowing lawns
an orchestration
of birds dipping
in an angle of sun
the glint of discarded bicycles
at the end of a drive
flickering like three thin reeds.
